LACOMBE — People in Lacombe are mopping up after a heavy rainfall that stalled cars and flooded basements.
Police had to close several roads within the community because of high water levels that resulted when the storm drainage system was overwhelmed.
Some cars that sat in water halfway up the wheels ended up stalling, leaving frustrated motorists soaked to the knees as they were forced to exit their vehicles.
Police chief Gary Leslie says once the storm drainage system is able to “catch up” with the amount of rain that has fallen in the community, things should be fine.
But he says at this point, the community can’t handle any more rain.
Unfortunately, Environment Canada is forecasting ongoing rain until Thursday.
