Nearly 350 golf balls are dropped from a Mustang Helicopter onto the first fairway of the Lacombe Golf and Country Club Wednesday. The unique raffle was part of the Lacombe Hospital Charity Golf Classic, an event sponsored by the David Thompson Health Trust that drew 114 golfers and raised about $55,000 for the Lacombe hospital. Brent van Nieuwkerk won a $2,000 travel voucher when his helicopter-dropped ball landed closest to the pin, but the Clive man’s luck didn’t end there: his name was pulled in the first draw, netting him another $2,000 travel voucher.
