HIV positive man faces 11 sex charges

Red Deer City RCMP have charged a Calgary man who is HIV positive with 11 counts of aggravated sexual assault.

Red Deer City RCMP have charged a Calgary man who is HIV positive with 11 counts of aggravated sexual assault.

The man is alleged to have had unprotected sex with a woman who says she was not informed of his medical condition.

Under the Criminal Code of Canada, aggravated sexual assault includes endangerment of life. HIV exposure may endanger life.

Paul Thomson, 32 of Calgary, is also charged with one count of theft of a bank card.

Thomson made his first appearance in Red Deer provincial court on Friday. His next appearance is Aug. 12.
