RCMP are still compiling information and interviewing witnesses in connection with the stabbing death of a Bowden Institution inmate, Red Deer court heard on Wednesday.

Crown prosecutor Murray McPherson said the disclosure of information is still being gathered by police and will take at least another five weeks to compile.

He said some disclosure would hopefully be turned over to the defence in mid-September.

Keith Clinton Sandmaier, 33, returns to court on Sept. 28 to enter a plea on a second-degree murder charge in connection with the death of David Tung Louie, 33, of Calgary.

Sandmaier appeared on closed circuit television and remains in custody.

Louie was found in medical distress at 10:45 a.m. on June 19. He was transported to Innisfail hospital but died of his injuries.

Louie was serving a 12-year sentence for weapons, drug and robbery-related offences.

Sandmaier, who was also serving a sentence at Bowden Institution, is represented by Sherwood Park lawyer Ashraf Attia.
