The Jaws of Life had to be used to get an adult female passenger out of a vehicle in downtown Red Deer on Monday.

Red Deer Emergency Services personnel were called to the collision scene at 49 Avenue and 46 Street at around 12:09 p.m. on Monday.

The collision involved two vehicles, with two people in each vehicle. The Jaws of Life had to be used after one vehicle was pressed against a light standard, making it impossible to open the doors on that side, and the doors on the other side of the vehicle could not open because of damage caused by the collision.

Platoon chief Randy Kidd, with Red Deer Emergency Services said an adult female passenger had to be transported to the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre with minor injuries.
