The heavy equipment industry has been named as Olds College’s partner of the year. Olds College started its first heavy equipment operator program in February 2007 after a construction company needed a program. Since then, partnerships have been developed with many industry organizations and companies, offering specialized training to diverse groups, including Métis organizations and women.

Past recipients of partner of the year have been Olds College’s entire alumni body, the University of Alberta, the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede, Chinook’s Edge School Division, the Town of Olds, John Deere and Henry Heuver.

Wendy Walls, a member of the heavy equipment industry as the co-owner of Red Deer’s Border Paving, has signed on as volunteer chair of the event.

Tickets are $225 each or $1,800 for a table of eight. Tickets are available through Judy Edwards at 403-556-4749 or by e-mail at gala@oldscollege.ca.
