As part of a test project by the company and the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association, more than 100 high pressure sodium lights on the town’s west side are being replaced with LEDs to determine the feasibility of using them in towns and cities. The company says LEDs may reduce greenhouse gases and streetlight maintenance costs. The project will run until the end of 2012 with a report presented to Innisfail town council in March 2013. Innisfail residents can weigh in with their opinions by completing a survey on the town’s Web site at www.townofinnisfail.com before Oct. 1st.
