A Red Deer lawyer will run for city council on a platform of a “safer, stronger and green community.”

Chris Stephan, founder and CEO of Shared Homes International Ltd. and Stephan Law Group, is looking to represent Red Deer with a strong, sensible voice on council.

“Red Deer has been great to me and my family, but I want it to be even better for our children,” said the married father of two boys. “I offer energy, efficiency and innovation — plenty of it.”

He would like to see greater community police presence, including additional foot patrol. He supports the installation of surveillance cameras downtown and resources directed at reducing drug addictions and trafficking.

Stephan says would also ensure the best value for tax dollars spent, lobby federal and provincial funding for infrastructure and capital projects, and encourage job creation through innovation and entrepreneurship.

To keep Red Deer green, he would help implement the River Valley and Tributaries Park Concept Plan.

He would also support a 50-metre pool and having Red Deer become a municipal leader in environmental sustainability issues.

Stephan is currently working on a master’s degree in green building from the San Francisco Institute of Architecture.
