An Innisfail financial advisor is on trial for the bombing death of an Innisfail woman.
Brian Malley, 57, faces charges of first-degree murder, causing an explosion and sending a person an explosive device. The jury trial started in Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench today.
The charges follow the bombing death of Vicki Shachtay, 23, who died Nov. 25, 2011, after a package delivered to her home exploded in her face. Her school-aged daughter was not at home at the time of the explosion.
Malley was Shachtay’s financial advisor.
Shachtay was confined to a wheelchair after a car collision years earlier.
