A man accused of armed robberies at two Red Deer Credit Unions will remain in custody for another month pending an investigation in Edmonton.
Philip Glen Noel, 51, has been in custody since late October, when he was arrested on charges including armed robbery and possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose in connection with robberies on July 9 and Oct. 4 at two different branches of the Servus Credit Union.
Appearing by closed-circuit TV from the Red Deer Remand Centre, he was to have entered a plea and had a bail hearing before Judge Darrel Riemer in Red Deer provincial court on Monday.
However, defence counsel Arnold Piragoff asked for one-month adjournment, anticipating new charges to be laid in Edmonton.
Piragoff told the court Edmonton police expect to charge his client in connection with a bank robbery that occurred there, but have not completed their investigation.
He therefore asked that bail hearing and plea be adjourned for another month so he and his client can deal with the new information once it reaches them.
