The man accused of sexually assaulting a Red Deer woman in 1998 reserved his plea in Red Deer provincial court on Friday.
Lawrence MacPherson, 36, was arrested in March in Nova Scotia in relation to a violent attack on an 18-year-old woman, alleged to have taken place in a park next to the cemetary in Highland Green on July 25, 1998.
Red Deer RCMP were notified in June 2010 that a match had been found for DNA evidence collected at the scene.
Charges were laid against MacPherson in July, 2011. He was subsequently transferred from Halifax to Red Deer, where he remains in custody.
He is to enter a plea in Red Deer provincial court on June 19.
