One of two men facing drug trafficking and weapons charges stemming from a bust two weeks ago in Innisfail has been released on bail.

Wessam Siad Haimour, 39, of Innisfail, was released Thursday on $2,000 no cash deposit and several other restrictions when he appeared on Red Deer provincial court closed circuit television.

Haimour returns to court on Sept. 15 to enter a plea on charges of possession of cocaine and testosterone, which is a steroid hormone, for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition readily available and possession of a prohibited weapon without being the holder of a valid licence.

Meanwhile, Kenneth Dustin Powell, 30, was set to return to court today to enter similar charges but also an additional charge of possession of a firearm while being prohibited in a court order issued in 2007 in Drumheller. He remains in custody.

Innisfail RCMP said on Aug. 19 that they seized “significant amounts” of cocaine, a .45-calibre semi-automatic handgun, ammunition and testosterone when they executed a search warrant at an Innisfail business.

Additional searches were conducted at a residence and two vehicles.
