One man is dead following a single-vehicle accident east of Red Deer on Monday morning.
A semi-truck rolled into the ditch on Range Road 271 just north of Hwy 11 around 9:45 a.m.
The truck came to a rest on its side and Red Deer Emergency Services fire-medics had to use the Jaws of Life to extract the lone occupant, who was pronounced dead at the scene, said Sgt. James Derouin of Blackfalds RCMP.
Police are investigating what caused the accident and are not releasing further details until next of kin have been notified.
The gravel road was closed for a couple of hours, Derouin said. It has since reopened.
