A man charged with the theft of several thousand dollars worth of high-end athletic clothing in mid-July has pleaded not guilty.

Christopher William Davis, 32, of Red Deer will have a provincial court trial on March 31 after he appeared in court on Wednesday.

Davis is charged with possession of stolen property valued at more than $5,000 and uttering threats.

Studio Pilates in Red Deer was cleaned out of all its inventory on July 16, RCMP reported earlier. The store, located in the Riverside Industrial Park, was entered overnight, when thieves broke through the rear door of the store in the 4600 block of 61st Street. Court heard that the value of the clothing was about $30,000.

The store had also been broken into 10 days prior to that. During the July 7 break-in, $5,000 to $6,500 in merchandize was stolen, along with a cash register.

Police seized Lululemon clothing while investigating an unrelated incident on July 22. The investigation continued on Aug. 4, when Red Deer City RCMP seized additional Lululemon clothing and accessories from an apartment in downtown Red Deer.

Beverley Jean Hughes, 26, of Red Deer is also charged with possession of stolen property, possession of a narcotic and breaching a court order.

She reserved her plea on Tuesday and returns to court on Sept. 30 to enter a plea.

Davis remains in custody and will appear in provincial court on Oct. 7 to stand trial on separate charges of possession of stolen property and failing to appear in court. He also appears in Red Deer traffic court on Monday on charges of driving with no insurance, driving an unregistered motor vehicle and driving while suspended.
