Men ordered to pay damages

Three men charged with trashing more than two dozen golf carts at a Rocky Mountain House golf course last October were sentenced on Wednesday in Rocky Mountain House provincial court.

Three men charged with trashing more than two dozen golf carts at a Rocky Mountain House golf course last October were sentenced on Wednesday in Rocky Mountain House provincial court.

Eric Huhn, 21, Randy Meloche, 19, and Scott Glenn Thompson, 19 each pleaded guilty to mischief resulting in more than $5,000 in damage at Pine Hills Golf Club.

Huhn was sentenced to 90 days in jail and must pay restitution of $3,600. Meloche and Thompson were placed on 36 months probation, and must each must pay $11,744.47 restitution.

RCMP said earlier that more than two dozen golf carts were hot wired and trashed in the spree which was discovered last Oct. 4.

Police found abandoned carts on Hwy 11 about a kilometre from the golf club.

Other carts were discovered piled up at the bottom of a hill and some had been driven into a creek bed while another was found in a pond.

Twenty of 27 carts were so badly damaged they required extensive repairs.
