Grade 5 Ecole Camille J. Lerouge student Kira Kulczycki is treated by HSE Integrated Medical Services EMTs in a mock motor vehicle accident in the school parking lot Monday morning. Kira’s Grade 4 and 5 classmates were originally unaware the event was staged as they watched the showcase but quickly learned it was not real. Lisa Vogt, safety co-ordinator with Red Deer Regional Schools, explained the event was held to show students lessons about traffic safety and awareness. The mock incident, which was hosted by the Central Alberta Chapter of Canadian Society of Safety Engineering, kicked off North America Occupational Safety and Health Week in Red Deer.
