Red Deer City RCMP are on the hunt for a man who brandished a knife while robbing a local drugstore on Saturday.

RCMP say at 5:15 p.m. a man believed to be in his 20s entered the Sproule’s Mountview IDA Drugs on 43 Avenue and demanded prescription narcotics. His face was concealed.

Staff handed over an undisclosed amount of drugs and the man fled on foot. He headed south to the alley behind the store. Witnesses then say the man jumped into a waiting car with an older female driver. No one inside the store were injured.

The suspect is described as 1.8 metres (six feet tall), average built with fair skin and reddish blonde hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark-coloured top. The car is described as an older model four-door gold-coloured sedan.
