Melissa Leslie cuddles up with her newly licensed cat Calliope in her Innisfail home this week. She received a basket of pet items for being the town’s first cat owner to license a cat under the new dog and cat control bylaw passed by town council on Jan. 25. The fee for altered cats will be $20 until the end of February when it increases to $30. For unaltered cats, the fee will be $40 until the end of February when the fee increases to $50. Previous lifetime tags will be honoured, however, holders of these tags must come into the town office by Feb. 28 so a new 2010 tag can be issued.
