A new Red Deer establishment will provide a dance club, dozens of arcade games and a sports bar under one roof.

The Club House, located at 6320 50 Ave. near Parkland Mall, could open as soon as next weekend, says manager Sean Campbell.

“We’ve got 50 or 60 arcade games that are going to be put in,” Campbell said, likening the style of the bar to The Rec Room or GRETA, which both have locations in Calgary and Edmonton.

“We’ll have punching games, basketball games and skee-ball, all the way to pinball and different racing games like Mario Kart. We’ll have a bunch of pool tables and air hockey too.”

The bar, which is located at the former Red Deer Buffet site, will also have a dance floor and DJ booth.

“On Fridays and Saturdays – and if it really takes off on Wednesdays and Thursdays too – we’ll have that running to add to the nightlife that Red Deer doesn’t really have right now,” Campbell said.

“With (Longriders Saloon) and Bellinis (Sonic Lounge) shutting down, there hasn’t been much for young adults to do. We want to provide that. We have the DJ coming in to play different types of music depending on the crowd – they’ll have time to dance and enjoy the music, and enjoy some games as well. They get the full experience.”

The Club House will feature a 178-inch television, in addition to another 15 or so 70-inch televisions.

“We’re going to be big players when it comes to NHL games, NFL games, playoffs, UFC. We might play around with the idea of doing some international soccer and different stuff like that – whatever people are wanting to watch.”

Ryan Reeves and Derek Winterhault are the owners of The Club House. The duo also owns Aurora Golf Simulator in the same plaza. Getting The Club House together has been a lengthy process, Campbell noted.

“We took over the lease at the beginning of May. We had to completely gut the place. We’ve been working nonstop since then,” he said.

“It’s very exciting to be this close to opening. It’s been a long time coming. We’ve had a few setbacks and some things have taken longer than we wanted, but we’re excited to get going and see how everyone likes it.”

All ages will be welcome inside The Club House until 9 p.m., when it becomes an adults-only bar.
