No major accidents reported on snowy roads

RCMP responded to a slew of minor collisions on Hwy 2 on Monday morning but no major incidents were reported.

“This morning between about 6:30 a.m. and 9 a.m., there were multiple single-vehicle collisions, no injuries reported,” said Sgt. Blaine Heather of Alberta Sheriff Highway Patrol. Most of the collisions happened between 32nd Street in Red Deer and the Olds overpass.

The highways are in relatively good condition but visibility is reduced.

Drivers are urged to drive cautiously.

The Alberta Motor Association listed Hwy 2 through Central Alberta in fair condition.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Central Alberta including Red Deer, Olds, Sundre, Rocky Mountain House, Ponoka, Stettler and Innisfail. An additional 10 to 20 cm of snow is expected today.
