The superintendent of schools with Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools has added another award to her lengthy list of recognitions.

Paulette Hanna, who has been with the school board since 2001 and serving as superintendent since 2007, was announced as the provincial winner of this year’s EXL Award.

The prize, which is sponsored by the Canadian Association of School Administrators and Xerox Canada Ltd., acknowledges the dedication and leadership of school administrators.

“This prestigious award confirms what the board has known all along,” said Christine Moore, board chairperson.

“She is highly respected by everyone at Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools for her authentic and caring servant-leadership.”

Hanna has also been bestowed with various other awards, including Red Deer and District Community Foundation’s Women of Excellence Award, the Alberta Catholic Education Leadership Award, the Premier’s Award of Excellence and the Leadership of Council of School Administrators provincial award.

She has also served two consecutive terms on the Red Deer College Board of Governors and served on the College of Alberta School Superintendents for seven years.

The national EXL Award winner will be selected from the provincial winners, with the honour being announced at CASA’s Annual Conference in Quebec City July 8.

The Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools serves over 6,500 students in Red Deer, Sylvan Lake, Rocky Mountain House, Innisfail and Olds.
