Pedestrian identified in Hwy 2A fatality

A 17-year-old Hobbema pedestrian has been identified as the person killed in a hit-and-run crash on Oct. 23.

A 17-year-old Hobbema pedestrian has been identified as the person killed in a hit-and-run crash on Oct. 23.

Ponoka RCMP said James Marcel Piche died about 7:53 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle on Hwy 2A about a kilometre north of Menaik Road.

The female driver of the vehicle drove away but then notified police a short time later, police said.

Alcohol isn’t believe to be a factor in the incident which is still under investigation.

Weather is believed to be a factor because it was raining heavily, police said.
