A pickup driver was injured and eastbound traffic was restricted after a traffic collision at Hwy 11 and Burnt Lake Trail early Monday morning.

Blackfalds RCMP say a westbound pickup truck turned left in front of an eastbound semi-trailer unit at 5:30 a.m. The pickup was struck by the empty semi. The pickup driver was treated for his injuries and released from Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. The semi driver was not hurt.

Damage to the traffic control lights meant that eastbound traffic was restricted for much of the morning.

The road remains open and traffic is being assisted by Alberta Transportation staff.

Blackfalds RCMP continue their investigation with the help of Red Deer City detachment, Central Alberta Integrated Traffic Unit and by Alberta Sheriffs. No charges have been laid.
