A Pines area pizza store clerk was held up shortly after the start of the New Year, Red Deer city RCMP said on Monday.

Const. Chris Kosack said the Little Caesars Pizza in the Pines Plaza Shopping Centre on Gaetz Avenue was held up by a lone male 10 minutes after midnight on Saturday.

The suspect entered the store and demanded cash from the clerk, who complied with the order.

The suspect then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, Kosack said.

RCMP, including a police service dog team, scoured the area but couldn’t locate a suspect.

The suspect had his face hidden with a ski mask.

He is described as being 1.83 metres (six feet) tall and weighing between 73 to 84 kg (160 to 185 pounds).

He wore jeans and had a white and black camouflage design hooded sweater.
