A 38-year-old Red Deer man was remanded in custody Wednesday after reserving his plea on three drug-related charges in provincial court.

James Sarasin, appearing on closed circuit television, will return to court Dec. 9 to enter pleas.

He is charged with two counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and possession of money alleged to have been derived from the proceeds of crime.

Cpl. Kathe DeHeer of Red Deer city RCMP said police executed a search warrant about 2:10 a.m. Tuesday morning at a residence in the 5800 block of 58A Street in Red Deer.

Seven people were arrested inside.

Police seized crack cocaine, morphine, money and drug paraphernalia.

A 53-year-old man, who can’t be named until an information is sworn, was charged with a single count of possession of drugs.

He was released to appear in court on Jan. 6.

The other people arrested, including two women, were released without being charged.
