Stettler RCMP have released the name of the man who died in a farm building fire in Gadsby on June 7.

The medical examiner’s office in Calgary has confirmed that 26-year-old Dustin Dean Derr of Gadsby died in the fire. Firefighters found his body inside the building after the blaze was reported late afternoon that Sunday.

The fire was quickly brought under control before it could spread to other buildings.

Stettler RCMP conducted a criminal investigation, which has since ended. The cause of the fire has not been determined to date.

Sgt. Rowland Schmidt said Derr had lived on the property where the fire occurred.

Stettler Regional Fire Rescue will continue to look into what triggered the blaze.

The villlage of Gadsby is located about 20 km east of Stettler on Hwy 12.
