Police have released the identity of a teenage boy killed in a crash near Sylvan Lake this past weekend.

Police have released the identity of a teenage boy killed in a crash near Sylvan Lake this past weekend.

Despite the efforts of STARS and ambulance emergency responders, 17-year-old Danny Irwin died on scene after a two-car collision at Range Road 12 and Township Road 382 at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday.

Another teen passenger remains in hospital, but no details on his condition have been released.

Both vehicles suffered heavy damage and the Jaws of Life were used to extricate trapped passengers in both vehicles.

RCMP are continuing an investigation, but have determined alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
