Police searching for female pharmacy robber

Red Deer RCMP are investigating to see if armed robberies at two pharmacies were committed by the same woman.

Red Deer RCMP are investigating to see if armed robberies at two pharmacies were committed by the same woman.

On Monday at around 5:20 p.m., Mounties responded to a panic alarm at the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy located in the 3800 block of 50th Street.

A lone female approached the pharmacist and demanded OxyContin and morphine, and said she also had a knife on her.

Police say the pharmacist complied with the demands and the female took off. She was last seen on foot, travelling east. The pharmacist wasn’t injured.

A police dog unit was called out, but was unable to track the suspect down.

The female is described as Caucasian, having a larger build, and wearing a red jacket, green-hooded sweater and black gloves.

Police believe the description is similar to the female described in the Nov. 7 armed robbery of the Apple Drugs Pharmacy, located in the 3800 block of 40th Avenue. She also made similar demands for OxyContin and morphine, and took off with substantial quantities.
