Police see workload increase in latest Red Deer crime statistics

The weekly workload picked up somewhat for the city RCMP, with an increase of about 13 per cent in total calls for service for the week ending on Sunday.

Police received 720 calls last week, from 636 the previous week.

Domestic violence calls jumped significantly to 32 from 20 the previous week.

Assaults dipped six to 22 last week while robberies doubled to four.

Thefts remained steady at 41 last week, the same as the previous week.

Other weekly statistics included:

• nine motor vehicle thefts

• 18 break-ins of businesses and residences

• 107 bylaw infractions

• 16 drug investigations

• seven frauds

• 56 mischief

• 33 suspicious persons, vehicles or activities

• 97 calls victim services assistance.
