Police seize gun after threat complaint

At 5:50 a.m. this past Wednesday, Red Deer City RCMP received a complaint that an individual had threatened to shoot someone with a firearm.

Police have charged a man after investigating a complaint that someone threatened to shoot another person.

Red Deer City RCMP received a complaint at 5:50 a.m. on Monday that an individual showed a firearm to people in a residence on the 4600 block of 50th Street, then threatened someone.

Two people were arrested without incident and a search resulted in the seizure of a .22 calibre rifle, which police say was stolen.

Police have charged 26-year-old Samuel Lomong with one count of uttering threats, one count of possession of a stolen firearm, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of careless use of a firearm, and one count of careless storage of a firearm.

Lomong was remanded in custody and will appear in Red Deer provincial court on Sept. 7. The second person arrested was released without charges.
