Ponoka RCMP have released a photo of a missing 77-year-old patient who vanished from the Centennial Centre for Mental Health in Ponoka last week.

Daniel Arsneau, 77, was reported missing on April 19 from the hospital facility.

A Red Deer resident reported to local RCMP he may have had contact with Arsneau on April 20 at 1:30 p.m. on Northey Avenue in Red Deer.

Arsneau has limited mobility and normally uses a wheelchair to move around but may have become separated from his wheelchair and be on foot. Police say he would be unsteady on his feet and may walk with a limp. He suffers from dementia.

Arsneau is described as a Caucasian male, 168 cm (5’5 ft), 67 kg (145 pounds), blue eyes, balding with grey hair and a brown moustache. Arsneau was wearing grey sweat pants, a blue jacket, and yellow gloves. Arsneau has been known to frequent bars, liquor stores, legions, and establishments with VLT machines.

Arsneau has ties to Amherst, N.S. and members of Arsneau family believe he may be attempting to travel to Nova Scotia.

RCMP are requesting that anyone who may have seen, had contact with, or may have given a ride to Arsneau to contact the Ponoka RCMP at (403)-783-4472 or (403)-783-4471 or the Red Deer RCMP at (403)-343-5575.
