City of Red Deer Recreation Parks and Culture employee Bob Thresher manoeuvres a tractor along the trail system east of Gaetz Avenue along the south side of the Red Deer River on Thursday. After working his way through the chunks of ice left by a weekend ice jam and subsequent flood, Thresher completed the removal of ice from the south river trail. Ice along the north side of the river along the Lions Campground, extending along the trails near Great Chief Park to Heritage Ranch still needs to be cleared. After all blocks of ice have been removed from the trails, it will be up to Mother Nature to melt it all.
