Black Press Media’s magazine dedicated to celebrating the best of the Prairies has won acclaim.

Prairie Living - The Heart of Alberta received first place in the special sections category at the Alberta Weekly Newspapers Association’s annual awards night.

The publication began in the Red Deer Express and is now circulated in the Red Deer Advocate.

“It was such a great honour to win first place for this magazine. It’s nice to be recognized for something you are so passionate about,” said Carlie Connolly, editor and founder of Prairie Living.

One of the judges said, “This well-designed section feels like an upscale magazine. Excellent quality stock, an informed, balanced look makes it a winner. Replete with Q&A, fashion, food, interviews … along with gorgeous local ads interspersed within … it’s just fantastic!”

Other Black Press Media winners Friday evening were the Rimbey Review, Ponoka News and the now-closed Red Deer Express.
