RCMP seize pot in raid

Two Red Deer residents face several charges including child endangerment in connection with a drug bust which netted $120,000 worth of marijuana from their home in a trailer court near Burnt Lake Trail west of Red Deer early Friday afternoon.

Two Red Deer residents face several charges including child endangerment in connection with a drug bust which netted $120,000 worth of marijuana from their home in a trailer court near Burnt Lake Trail west of Red Deer early Friday afternoon.

Cpl. Andrew Shepherd of the Red Deer Rural RCMP said the search was executed by the rural and the Red Deer City drug units around 1 p.m. The search was part of an ongoing investigation. A three-year-old child was in the home at the time. The child was removed and placed with another family.

The search turned up a marijuana grow operation including 97 marijuana plants.

Aaron Schaffer and Sylvia Macintyre of Red Deer are facing charges of production of a substance, trafficking in a controlled substance and one count of child endangerment.
