RDC board chairwoman steps down

The chairwoman of the Red Deer College board of governors has stepped down to take a new role at the college.

The chairwoman of the Red Deer College board of governors has stepped down to take a new role at the college.

Janice Wing resigned last week from both the Red Deer and District Community Foundation and the board of governors to accept the new position of Director of Development, leading the college’s fund development and fundraising activities in the community relations department.

Wing has been on the RDC board of governors since 2004 and with the community foundation since 2001.

“It’s just time from a personal career perspective to make a change,” said Wing. “It’s exciting for me. It’s exciting for the foundation. I think it will be good for them to have some new energy in here, too.”

Vice-chairwoman Shelley Ralston has stepped into the acting RDC board chair position until a replacement for Wing is named. The selection and appointment process of a board chairperson is handled through Alberta Advanced Education and Technology.

The board does not meet in the summer and the next meeting is scheduled for sometime in September.

The community foundation is also looking for a new executive director.
