Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools and Eagle Builders have teamed up to launch a five-day camp designed for high school students interested in construction and engineering.

The program, hosted at Eagle Builders in Blackfalds, aims to offer students hands-on experience in foundational construction skills and concrete component building. Eagle Builders specializes in designing, manufacturing and building precast concrete structures.

“We are excited to offer students this unique chance to explore careers in construction and engineering with one of the industry’s leaders,” said Tracey Millar, career pathway co-ordinator at Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools.

“This partnership with Eagle Builders aligns with our commitment to providing practical, career-focused learning experiences for our students.”

The camp provides students with the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals, gaining insights and practical skills that can serve as a foundation for careers in construction and engineering. Through real-world applications, teamwork and problem-solving activities, participants will explore multiple disciplines within the field, preparing them for the high-demand industries in the future.

Amie Grootjes, with Eagle Builders, said the company is excited to partner with Red Deer Catholic.

"By offering hands-on experiences through this camp, we aim to equip students with foundational skills, spark interest in the trades, and open doors to potential career paths in construction," Grootjes said.

"Our goal is to inspire and empower students, allowing them to explore the rewarding opportunities available in the construction industry, all while building strong connections within the community that contribute to a thriving, skilled local workforce."

Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools serves over 9,600 students in 21 schools in Red Deer, Blackfalds, Sylvan Lake, Rocky Mountain House, Innisfail, and Olds. It also supports the learning of over 950 students in a Home Education Program.

“We are excited to provide our students with real-world opportunities to explore potential careers in construction and engineering," said Murray Hollman, Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools board chair.

"This partnership reflects our commitment to helping students discover their strengths and passions in fields where they can build fulfilling careers. We’re grateful to Eagle Builders for opening their doors to make this a reality."
