About 50 school bus drivers from across Central Alberta will put their skills to the test at the annual Local School Bus Road-eo to be held at St. Joseph High School on May 24.
Throughout the day, drivers from Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools, Chinook’s Edge School Division, Wolf Creek Public Schools and Prairie Bus Lines will navigate an obstacle course designed to test the skills it takes to be a successful school bus driver.
During the road-eo, drivers will engage in a variety of skill-testing events, including the railroad crossing, diminishing clearance, back-up stall, and offset alley.
"The annual School Bus Road-eo is a fantastic event that allows our dedicated drivers to demonstrate their expertise and commitment to ensuring the safe transportation of students," said Kelli Pickett, assistant transportation manager with Red Deer Catholic.
"We are excited to host it at St. Joseph High School this year and look forward to a day of spirited competition and camaraderie."
Winners from the Local School Bus Road-eo will advance to the Provincial School Bus Road-eo, scheduled for June 7 in Nisku.
