A Red Deer man is facing multiple charges after allegedly pointing a gun at a mall security officer on Saturday.

A Red Deer man is facing multiple charges after allegedly pointing a gun at a mall security officer on Saturday.

At about 6 p.m. on Oct. 8 Red Deer City RCMP responded to a call at The Bay in Bower Place Shopping Centre. Police say a loss prevention officer approached a male following an alleged shoplifting attempt. When the suspect was confronted in the mall parking lot, he allegedly produced a handgun and pointed it at the loss prevention officer.

The suspect then fled in a vehicle.

On Sunday, the suspect was located in a residence located in 4000 block of 47th Street. The male was arrested without incident.

Brett Morgan, 35, of Red Deer, has been charged with the one count of robbery, one count of pointing a firearm, two counts of theft under $5,000 and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

Morgan was remanded into custody and is set to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on Tuesday.
