A 35-year-old man is facing numerous charges after being arrested for dangerous operation of a vehicle in Slave Lake.
Slave Lake RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle that had collided with a snowbank just before 9 a.m. on March 14. Officers located a dark coloured SUV, which allegedly fled the area upon the police's arrival and caused damage to a nearby business.
Police covertly followed the suspect vehicle from a distance to ensure the safety of the public, as the suspect was driving in a dangerous manner, according to RCMP. The vehicle came to a stop on Highway 2, leading to the safe arrest of the suspect by Slave Lake RCMP general duty officers.
The Red Deer resident has been charged with operation of a vehicle while prohibited, flight from peace officer, dangerous operation of motor vehicle, mischief over $5,000, and fail to comply with probation order.
He was taken before a Justice of the Peace and has been released. He is scheduled to appear in court on Apr. 9 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Slave Lake.
