Red Deer lotto winner Clinton Olds was ready for a happy dance after hitting it big on a crossword game this week.

Olds scored a $100,000 jackpot playing a $5 Crossword Multiplier Scratch’n’Win ticket he picked up at a Mac’s convenience store located at 6888-50 Avenue in north Red Deer.

He took the lucky ticket to work and after scratching it later that morning, he was a little dubious about his good fortune. He quickly took the ticket back to the store to have it verified.

“At first I thought I made a mistake, perhaps scratched an incorrect letter,” said Olds, in a prepared statement. “It wasn’t until I scanned the ticket that I confirmed it was a $100,000 win. I could not believe it. I was yelling and doing the happy dance.”

Olds says he plans to use the winnings to fulfill his dream of buying a house.
