Outdoor rinks throughout Red Deer are scheduled to open on Friday.

These locations include Bower Ponds, Westlake, Anders on the Lake, the speed skating oval by the Golden Circle and outdoor neighbourhood rinks located next to community activity centres.

Bower Ponds Pavilion concession and skate rentals will be open to the public on Saturday.

Regular Bower Ponds Pavilion hours are:

• weekdays from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

• weekends from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The pavilion holiday schedule is:

• 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 24

• closed Dec. 25

• noon to 4 p.m. on Dec. 26

• 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Dec. 27 to 30

• noon to 4 p.m. on Dec. 31

• 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Jan. 1

Hockey sticks and pucks are not permitted at Bower Ponds, the speed skating oval and the neighbourhood snow bank rinks. A Canadian Standards Association helmet is recommended for all ice activities.

Other outdoor rinks that are located in neighbourhood parks without community activity centres are scheduled to open next week.
