Red Deer Polytechnic will highlight trends in the labour market and showcase employment opportunities at its Career Fair and Conference on Feb. 27.
“At Red Deer Polytechnic, we are proud to offer enhanced education, training and applied research opportunities that prepare students for Alberta’s diverse workforce,” said Lindsay Engel, vice-president of Academic and Student Experience.
“The Career Fair and Conference is one of the ways we facilitate industry connections for RDP students and members of our communities, helping to address labour market demand and advancing the economic and social development of the region and province.”
RDP’s Career Education and Experience Development Centre and Donald School of Business, Science and Computing are teaming up to host the on-campus event, with support from the Government of Alberta, Scotiabank and Students’ Association of Red Deer Polytechnic.
The Career Fair and Conference will feature keynote speaker Emily Genereux, a senior consultant with Human Resources Consulting Group Inc. – her presentation is titled “Saying Yes: Creating Opportunities, Community and a Life You Are Proud of.”
The event will also feature panels about artificial intelligence, which will be presented by Technology Alberta, and navigating career pathways. Additionally there will be a closing address from Diana Cretu, community engagement director with Imagine Institute For Learning, about “Co-Creating the Future of Work for Well-being and Belonging.”
Attendees can also participate in job interviews at the event, as well as receive virtual reality soft-skills training and support to enhance their LinkedIn profile.
RDP’s Career Fair and Conference is part of the post-secondary institution’s Future of Work Event Series, which also includes the 2nd Annual Education and Career Expo on April 25. It is anticipated that more than 4,000 high school students will attend the interactive Education and Career Expo.
There are still spots remaining for employers and businesses to register to attend the Future of Work Career Fair and Conference, and Education and Career Expo. Community members are welcome to attend the Career Fair and Conference at no cost.
