Red Deer RCMP recovered a stolen vehicle and caught two suspects after the vehicle was spotted in the downtown on Oct. 31.
One suspect faces 15 criminal charges as a result of his arrest.
RCMP said officers identified the stolen vehicle at about 3:27 p.m. at a downtown business. The passenger tried to flee when police arrived, but was taken into custody after a brief foot chase. The driver was also apprehended.
Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Unit led the investigation, with the assistance of Red Deer RCMP General Duty officers, the Downtown Patrol Unit and Police Dog Services.
A 39-year-old man was charged with driving without insurance, driving without registration, driving with an unauthorized plate, possessing property obtained by crime over $5,000, possessing property obtained by crime under $5,000, failing to comply with a release order, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, dangerous driving, driving while prohibited, flight from police, resisting arrest, fraudulent concealment, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 4 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
