Red Deer stabbing suspects to face joint legal proceeding

The charges against two men accused of stabbing another man during a fight at a Red Deer night club are to be joined into a single legal proceeding.

The charges against two men accused of stabbing another man during a fight at a Red Deer night club are to be joined into a single legal proceeding.

Vibert Davis, 38 and Harvey James Lee-Bernick, 27 were arrested after a fight at the Tequila Night Club shortly after 2 a.m. on Jan. 22.

While the two men had been charged individually, the Crown has applied to have their applications joined, which will have an impact on how their lawyers manage their defence.

John MacNaughton, representing Lee-Bernick and Dan Wilson, representing Davis, appeared in Red Deer provincial court on Wednesday to speak to the charges, including aggravated assault and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

Both men are to return to court on Wednesday, May 9.
