A Red Deer grandmother is ready to spoil her grandchildren this Christmas after winning $1,000,010 win on WESTERN MAX.

She said she checked the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) website and saw someone in Alberta won, so she opened up her Lotto Spot app to check her own tickets.

“I checked it about ten times,” she laughed. “I just couldn’t believe it… and to win $10 on the same ticket was a surprise.”

The first person she called was her brother.

“He thought I was bull*******,” she chuckled. “I still don’t quite believe it myself.”

The Red Deer resident said she has worked at a homeless shelter for 18 years and is not ready to retire just yet because she loves the work she does.

However, she is looking forward to officially paying off her mortgage and spoiling her family this holiday season.

“I just had a great-grandson, so we’re busy."

She would also love to take a trip to Vancouver Island in the spring.

She purchased her winning WESTERN MAX ticket from Shoppers Drug Mart at 2A 6315 Horn St. in Red Deer.

She won her prize by correctly matching the selection for one of the million-dollar bonus prizes in the October 8 draw: 7, 14, 19, 23, 34, 41, 48. She also won $10 by correctly matching three of the seven numbers plus the bonus number in the main draw: 5, 12, 16, 18, 23, 38, 39, and the Bonus, 8.
