A Fort St. John family of six was arrested by Red Deer RCMP Tuesday.

But the unusual arrest was well-received by Don and Janet Banman and their four children.

The arresting officer asked them to enjoy some down home hospitality in our fair city courtesy of the Westerner, City of Red Deer, Tourism Red Deer, and the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce.

The couple and their daughters Kaitlin, 12; Olivia, 3; Dayna, 2; and son Kam, 8; were outfitted in westerner attire and put up at the Red Deer Lodge hotel.

The family were to be ferried in a convertible in the Westerner Days parade this morning, and to be guests at a VIP luncheon.

Later today will enjoy the midway and other Westerner attractions. Westerner Days runs today through Sunday at Westerner Park.
