Crews will be working on Barrett Drive to replace catch basins, repair concrete sidewalks and curbs, and rehabilitate pavement between Bannerman Close and the Bower mall east entrance starting on Monday.
Work will be completed in stages from Aug. 12 to Sept. 30, but timelines are weather dependent and subject to change.
Catch basin and lead replacement is scheduled to take place at the Barrett Drive and Bennett Street intersection from 7 a.m. Aug. 12 until 7 p.m. Aug. 13.
Work at the Barrett Drive and Boyce Street intersection will be underway from 7 a.m. on Aug. 14 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 15. Detours will be in place during the closures.
Concrete replacement continue along Barrett Drive for about four weeks. Traffic will be intermittently disrupted with a flag person to control traffic when needed.
Road base preparation will proceed one segment at a time along Barrett Drive between Bannerman Close and the Bower Mall East Entrance. Each segment is expected to take one week. Traffic detours will be in place with signage provided.
For the first segment (Bannerman Close to Bell Street) intersections at Bannerman Close and Bell Street will remain open.
For the second segment (Bell Street to Bennett Street) the Bell Street intersection will be closed, and Bennett Street intersection will remain open.
At the third segment (Bennett Street to Bower mall) the Bennett Street intersection will be closed and Bower mall east entrance will remain open.
During the final stage, work will continue along Barrett Drive for about two weeks and include landscape restoration, line marking and street cleaning. Traffic will be intermittently disrupted with a flag person to control traffic when required.
Motorists are reminded to obey all signs, find an alternate route if possible, and slow down when approaching or driving in the construction zone.
