Red Deer Safety City Society is a volunteer driven, non-profit organization which has operated in Red Deer since April 2001. The organization offers highly regarded, interactive and educational injury prevention programs for children ages four to 10 years. Approximately 3,000 children from across Central Alberta attend the programs annually. On Saturday the organization celebrated it’s 10th anniversary with refreshments and barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers for visitors. Younger visitors, like Sawyer McKay, were able go through one of the traffic safety programs under the supervision of Child Safety Educator Elizabeth Laverty.
