Police are seeking help in locating an unidentified man suspected of a robbery attempt at the Sandman Hotel on Gaetz Avenue South in Red Deer just after 11 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police are seeking help in locating an unidentified man suspected of a robbery attempt at the Sandman Hotel on Gaetz Avenue South in Red Deer just after 11 p.m. on Wednesday.

Red Deer City RCMP say the man came into the hotel and demanded cash from the front desk clerk. The clerk was getting cash for the man, who fled empty-handed when an unsuspecting customer interrupted the robbery, said Const. Chris Kosack, a media liaison officer for the detachment.

Kosack said the suspect concealed his face from the clerk while he was in the hotel. He is described as about 1.70 metres (five feet, seven inches to five feet, eight inches) tall. He was wearing sunglasses and a jean jacket over a brown hooded sweater.
