STARS called to crash near Ponoka, two injured

Rollover Highway 2 just north of Ponoka closed the northbound lanes for some time May 28. The rear wheel blew on a southbound Chevy Silverado. It appears the driver lost control of the vehicle and it rolled into the northbound lanes. One person was taken to the Lacombe hospital with undetermined injuries and another was transported by STARS to Edmonton with serious injuries.

Police said the lone vehicle was southbound on Hwy 2 when a rear tire blew out.

The driver lost control of the vehicle, which rolled through the median and into the northbound lanes. The lanes were closed for about two hours while emergency crews worked at the scene.

The driver sustained serious injuries and was taken by STARS to an Edmonton hospital. The passenger was transported to a local hospital.
